by Nyal Mellor February 23, 2012

The Audiophiliac is a blog over on CNET written by Steve Guttenberg, a former movie projectionist turned hi-fi and home theater journalist. He wrote about his experience listening to the DEQX HDP-Express ($1995) providing speaker and room correction in a system with $30k Focal Utopia speakers...

DEQX HDP-3 awarded Star Component Award in Audiophilia review

by Nyal Mellor April 12, 2011

Martin Appel of Audiophilia has written a short but sweet review of the DEQX HDP-3. Martin's conclusion? />

The bottom line is that Kim Ryrie has improved an already outstanding product and created one that blurs the line between digital and analogue. Detail without edginess, unbridled musicality, transparent, dynamic and a level of involvement with the performance that is simply stunning. I’ve tried to describe, using some of our audiophile terminology, what one hears with the HDP-3 processor in your system and words don’t do it justice. It behooves you to try one — once in your system, you won’t let go. Removing it from your system will return you to a duller, two dimensional stereo that’s lost its magic. My system would be lost without it.

by Nyal Mellor December 08, 2010

A couple of really interesting videos for you this week. They are from Kim Ryrie, the founder of DEQX. DEQX, by the way, stands for Digital EQualization and Crossover (aka Xover). There were nine videos posted on DEQX's YouTube channel at the time of writing this blog post. I've selected the three I think are most interesting, but if you have time be sure to watch the other six. Two of definite interest are the one which covers how to integrate DEQX into a home theater and the one that expains the difference between the HDP-3 and the HDP-Express.

by Nyal Mellor December 07, 2010

The Absolute Sound has recently published a review of the Holm Acoustics DSPre1. From my interpretation of the specifications on their website and the user manual this unit is pretty much the equivalent of a DEQX HDP-Express or HDP-3 at significantly higher cost.
