The Electronic Systems Professional Alliance (ESPA) exists to maintain and develop an entry-level certification program for low voltage Electronic Systems Technicians (ESTs). The curriculum covers five key areas:
Participants must pass an independently proctored test in order to gain the ESPA certified EST qualification. Nyal Mellor, our founder, first took the Custom Electronic Design and Installation Association (CEDIA) Electronic System Technician Basic Residential Boot Camp training before committing to further study for the ESPA exam.
The qualification shows that ‘we know the basics’ in terms of safely and properly pulling, terminating and testing cabling in the home theaters we design and build.
Clint, an avid DIYer, planned on building his own home theater to cut costs until he realized the complexity of the task. "One piece of advice I came across most often was to hire a professional. I was hesitant, but I just found myself going in circles and didn't want to invest in something I'd later regret."
