Is the Olive 06HD the Music Server for you?
by Nyal MellorJanuary 26, 2011
Olive are releasing a new audiophile music server called the O6HD. For whatever reason Olive have really pulled their stuff together with their new range. The products look great, are well constructed from Apple MacBook-esqe solid aluminium. Boasting linear audiophile power supply and output stage and making a good point of advertising its high definition capability by coming pre-loaded with 10 Reference Recordings HRx 24bit/176.4kHz tracks.
Meridian Sooloos units. And there is an iPhone application to enable remote control. There is even the beginnings of a multi-room system of much higher audiophile potential using the Olive O2 - up to 15 of these can apparently be connected to a single Olive HD server. I mean, this is great, but it's not going to do my 26 room 2nd home in Lake Tahoe is it?! Perhaps this is the solution for those who have been waiting to get a music server but were put off with the thought of a headless Mac Mini or loved the Sooloos but wanted something a little less expensive.
Anyway, rambling off, take a look. This could be a great product. A disclaimer: we haven't used it so use your own judgement!

"The room was easily the most important upgrade to my stereo system. I think it sounds fantastic and considerably better than anything I've heard at a dealer or audio shows.” - Len W.
